
Luis Angel Mendoza is a Legal Assistant at Kivu Immigration Law PLLC. Luis was born and raised in Warsaw, North Carolina. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) and Chicano-Latino Studies from Claremont McKenna College in California. As an undergraduate student, Luis volunteered with nonprofit organizations to help prepare students for the Citizenship Interview Test. In 2023, Luis completed the Kivu Summer Internship, specializing in asylum and SIJS cases. Prior to joining Kivu Law as a Legal Assistant, Luis published his senior thesis, “Transnational Legal Violence: Undocumented Women v. U.S. Immigration Law,” and spent a summer in Medellín, Colombia, archiving community members’ testimonies as a Kathryn W. Davis Projects for Peace Awardee. Luis is fluent in English and Spanish. Outside of work, Luis enjoys playing volleyball, writing poetry, and working out at the gym.
