Free Legal Representation for Youth

Kivu Immigration Law PLLC is now offering free legal representation to youth who are under 21 years old, living in southwest Minnesota, and are not already represented by an immigration attorney.

Southwest Initiative Foundation (SWIF) is supporting the cost of legal representation on cases for up to 100 vulnerable youth. Through this grant, the only cost to a child is the cost of a $150 initial consultation.

To discuss case qualifications and strategy on immigration-related legal needs, youth must schedule an initial consultation with Kivu Immigration Law. If a Kivu Law attorney determines that a child has a viable immigration case, SWIF will cover 100% of the legal fees for the child’s case.

Through this grant, Kivu Immigration Law can represent children at no cost in cases of Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, asylum, U-visa, and other types of cases depending on the child’s circumstances. If successful, these types of cases offer protection from deportation, employment authorization, and a pathway to permanent residency and US citizenship.

To schedule an initial consultation with an immigration attorney, please call Kivu Immigration Law at 507-295-4858 or email [email protected]. The Kivu Law office is open Monday to Thursday from 8:00am—6:00pm. Kivu Immigration Law is owned by Worthington-native Attorney Erin Schutte Wadzinski and is located at 222 10th Street in downtown Worthington, Minnesota.
